Hazel, a very quirky and outgoing individual, has competed at two World Aquatic Short Course Championships (2018, 2022) and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

 

She has been competitively swimming for over 17 years, originally training in the Waikato for 11 years and then moving to train in the Auckland region ever since.

 

Ouwehand has a Bachelor of Accountancy from Massey University which she completed in 2021, and is currently working toward her CPA (certified practicing account), whilst working as an accountant at Baker Tilly Staples Rodway in Auckland city.

Fresh off the back of claiming two national championship titles at the 2022 New Zealand Championships, Hazel Ouwehand competed at her first Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022.

Ouwehand is a 50m butterfly specialist with previous international experience, having competed at the 2018 Fina World Championships. Ouwehand competed in the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke in Birmingham.

Hazel has competed at two FINA World Short Course Championships (2018+2022) and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She has been competitively swimming for over 17 years, originally training in the Waikato region for 11 years and in the Auckland region under Phoenix Aquatics coach David Lyles ever since. 

 

She has a Bachelor of Accountancy from Massey University which she completed in 2021, and is currently working towards her CPA (certified practising account), whilst working as an accountant at Baker Tilly Staples Rodway in Auckland city.
