First competed on the senior international stage in 2014. He has competed in 4 World Championships, 2 World Cups and 3 Commonwealth Games. Attend the University of Tennessee from 2015 to 2018 and was the captain of the Swimming and Diving team my senior year (2017/18).

Whilst at Tennessee Liam completed a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Kinesiology. He took 18 months out of competition from 2020 due to a back injury and has recently returned to the sport at the end of 2021.
