Luan Grobbelaar is an IM specialist originally from Cape Town, South Africa. In 2017, he and his family moved to New Zealand, settling initially in Palmerston North, where Luan began training with Kiwi West Aquatics.
In January of 2021, Luan made the decision to relocate to Dunedin and began training with Lars Humer. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Construction with a major in Construction Management through Massey University.
Luan has an extensive international competition resume having competed at the 2017 and 2019 World Junior Championships in Indianapolis and Budapest, the 2017 Youth Commonwealth Games in The Bahamas, the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, and the 2022 World Short Course Championships in Melbourne.
